On May 29th, David Tucker will be speaking at Flash Camp Orlando on Working with Data in AIR. We recently had a discussion with David about his topic and Flash Camp Orlando:

AP: Give us the elevator pitch about what we’ll get from your presentation.

DT: AIR brings several new ways to deal with data to the table. Many experienced Flex developers come to AIR and just don't know how to best utilize these resources. In this session, I will walk through the process of storing data in the Encrypted Local Store, the local filesystem, and especially the embedded local SQLite database. My presentation will cover most of these topics at a beginner and intermediate level, but we will be diving into some cool advanced stuff for the SQLite database.

AP: Which session, other than yours, are you looking forward to seeing, and why?

DT: I am really excited about the keynote from Adobe. A lot of exciting things are happening around Flash Catalyst and the next version of Flex. I think attendees will get to see some of this great stuff firsthand at the event.

AP: Will you be introducing anything new in your session?

DT: I won't be introducing anything new, but I will be demonstrating an under-utilized open source library for getting ORM functionality to work with the local SQLite database.

AP: What are you most excited about for Flash Camp Orlando?

DT: I am most excited about seeing what developers in the Orlando area are up to. I saw some great projects from attendees at the last camp, and I don't expect this event to be any different!

AP: In your opinion, why should people new to RIA applications attend? Experienced in RIA applications?

DT: This event will give anyone a great vision of what is possible with the best RIA technologies on the market today. In addition, they will also get a glimpse into the next version of these tools. Anyone can experience these benefits whether they are new to the platform, or even if they have been developing on it for years!
