May 7Flash Camp Orlando Speaker Interview: Christian Saylor

On May 29th, Christian Saylor will be speaking at Flash Camp Orlando on The Art of Storytelling.  We recently had a discussion with Christian about his topic and Flash Camp Orlando:

AP: Give us the elevator pitch about what we’ll get from your presentation:

CS: The Art of storytelling delves into the four "must have's" of a great story. Lead Character, Ambition, Conflict, Resolution. We take these staples of great storytelling and make it relevant in today's RIA mindset. We do this by looking at films such as Starwars, Jaws, 300, and Transformers which gently guides us down a path to understand the importance of having an intimate understanding of end-user, their back-story, and ultimately the way in which the art and science of user experience come together to tell one cohesive story.

AP: Which session, other than yours, are you looking forward to seeing, and why?

CS: "It's a Matter of Trust" by Carl Smith. This whole idea that we, as designers and developers, are handed over a brand to breath life into is a huge deal. Ultimately it's about a client having trust in our process and our talents and I think this topic is very relevant to today's culture and very much look forward to hearing his take on the subject.

AP: Will you be introducing anything new in your session?

CS: The concepts and ideas about creating lasting impressions wrapped around an engaging user experience is really nothing new but the way in which I unfold the topic is a bit unique and will hopefully inspire a healthy discussion around the topic.

AP: What are you most excited about for Flash Camp Orlando?

CS: I'm really most excited about the opportunity to engage with others. These kinds of smaller venues give us the ability to have conversations with people that would otherwise be missed at the larger more crowded conferences. Making such connections in an intimate setting as this is a great opportuity for one-on-one discussions and I look forward to that the most.

AP: In your opinion, why should people new to RIA applications attend?  Experienced in RIA applications?

CS: The RIA space is rapidly growing. Technology is moving at ever increasing speeds and having opportunities to engage with leaders in the industry and glean insights into what's happening in the space is reason enough to be apart of this event. People that are a bit more experienced will be able to dive deeper in such an intimate setting. See what's on the horizon related to technology, user experience insights and gain a deeper understanding related to the Art and Science of RIA coming together as one entity...
