On May 29th, Carl Smith will be speaking at Flash Camp Orlando on It's A Matter of Trust. We recently had a discussion with Carl about his topic and Flash Camp Orlando:

DT: Give us the elevator pitch about what we’ll get from your presentation.

CS: Establishing and keeping trust with your users can make all the difference in the success or failure of your application. This talk will get you thinking in terms of your users goals and motivations and show you the downside if you don't think about your users throughout your entire development process. Ultimately your users make or break you regardless of how amazing your new idea is.

DT: Which session, other than yours, are you looking forward to seeing, and why?

CS: Understand that I'm a non-technical person, so while I am hoping to learn from each session I'm excited to hear Christian Saylor talk about The Art of Storytelling. Storytelling is so critical in everything we do, and it goes hand in hand with trust which is my topic.

DT: Will you be introducing anything new in your session?

CS: I sure hope so. Mainly I'll try to give the attendees a new perspective that they can use as they move forward in their projects and careers. Almost everyone I've met in this industry is smart, but sometimes subtle shifts in an approach can make a world of difference in results.

DT: What are you most excited about for Flash Camp Orlando?

CS:For me it's always about meeting new people. As a rabid user of technology, getting to meet the current and next generation of application developers is awesome.

DT: In your opinion, why should people new to RIA applications attend? Experienced in RIA applications?

CS:If you've been working in RIA for years or just got started there is always something to learn from and something to teach. It's the community aspect that makes events like Flash Camp Orlando so powerful.
