May 14Flash Camp Orlando Speaker Interview: Andrew Powell
On May 29th, Andrew Powell will be speaking at Flash Camp Orlando on an Introduction To BlazeDS. We recently had a discussion with Andrew about his topic and Flash Camp Orlando:
DT: Give us the elevator pitch about what we’ll get from your presentation.
AP: BlazeDS is the fastest and easiest way to get server-side data into your Flex applications. It's not just for remoting, but also gives you some powerful messaging features as well. We'll look at the different aspects of BlazeDS and how to integrate it easily and quickly into your flex applications.
DT: Which session, other than yours, are you looking forward to seeing, and why?
AP: I hear that there are some big announcements from Adobe coming in the keynote. So, I'm really looking forward to Greg's session. I'm also really interested to see what Carl Smith has to say as well because I think that understanding your user is a critical part to any application development.
DT: Will you be introducing anything new in your session?
AP: I will be going over the new Spring BlazeDS Integration. Not many people have had a chance to look into the latest release and see what cool new stuff is available in it.
DT: What are you most excited about for Flash Camp Orlando?
AP: The thing that really is exciting about Flash Camp Orlando, for me, is getting into the Orlando Flex community. I want to see what the developers in Central FL are up to and what they have to show us. We have a good mix of local and national speakers so we should see a good feel for the community in the day.
DT: In your opinion, why should people new to RIA applications attend? Experienced in RIA applications?
AP: For those who are new to RIA technologies, this is a good mix of survey level, advanced, and UX. We try not to focus exclusively on any one piece and expose people to all aspects of the RIA development process. To that end, it's good for experienced developers too because they will be exposed to pieces of the RIA development process that they may not get daily exposure to. Every level of developer and manager will take something positive away from it.
